Advice for visiting our dental practice

Dental appointments can be made personally at our surgery in Chestfield, online or by telephone for those living elsewhere in Whitstable. There are a few things to consider when booking to visit Chestfield Dental Practice:

  • If you are a new patient, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your allotted time to fill in a digital Medical History Form. If you are likely to arrive late please inform us as it may be possible we can still see you.
  • If you are unable to keep an appointment, please try to give us at least 48 hours notice to enable another patient to be booked in.
  • Should you need emergency dental work then we will always try and see you as promptly as possible.
  • We will always try to see you punctually but inevitably delays do occur due to emergencies, so please be patient if you are kept waiting.

Information for your first visit

For your first dental appointment, we will see you for a ‘new patient examination’, which will register you with Chestfield Dental Practice. It may be that you do not have any treatment carried out at this appointment except for the relief of pain until your next appointment. It is imperative that you notify the dentist of any medical conditions as well as details of any medication you are taking; please bring this information along to your first appointment as you will be asked to complete a digital Medical History Form. Please note that x-rays are taken in addition to the new patient fee and that children under the age of 16 years need to be accompanied by an adult.

Always available in an emergency

If you do not wish to register with the dental practice but you would like a one-off emergency dentist appointment because you are suffering from pain, have lost a filling, or have a broken tooth, then you can be booked in as a ‘casual’ patient. There will be a casual fee to pay in advance when booking your appointment (we accept card payments made over the phone), which will cover the cost of the treatment for the visit. If you require further extensive treatment which cannot be carried out in this one appointment, then additional charges may apply.
